We live in a *weird* information environment. From Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan to NPR and the Daily, voters are engaging with wildly divergent views of the country. So we built a set of 28 models predicting the probability that a voter regularly gets their news from a specific outlet. These scores will help with both tailoring arguments for specific voters and making decisions about ad targeting.
How We Built It
We surveyed thousands of voters to find out exactly what media they’re consuming. Then we combined this data with voter file information, local election results, economic trends and more to build robust models that accurately predict someone’s media habits.
These models offer valuable insights into the media landscape, showing you where different segments of voters are getting their information – whether it’s from traditional news outlets, social media platforms, or niche podcasts.
How to Use This to Your Advantage
In today’s divided media landscape, knowing where voters get their news is critical for effective campaigning. Whether they’re engaging with news from CNN, sharing content on Facebook, or exploring fringe theories on Truth Social, understanding voters’ media habits allows you to communicate with them more effectively. These models can help you place ads where they’ll be most impactful, tailor your messaging, and counteract misinformation.
